Summer is going by quickly – hard to believe that July is almost over. For those of us who haven’t planned a summer vacation, it’s time to make the most of the rest of summer. I think this desk plaque sums it up best, “Life is Short, buy the shoes.”
So maybe it’s time to plan a day trip or a long weekend away.
Start by getting recommendations from family and friends about good driving destinations. It’s also good to develop a top ten list of activities to do when you arrive. Often times the visitor’s bureau for your destination may have a list prepared.
Also get suggestions from family and friends who have been to the destination, including places to dine. These small notebooks from Igloo Press can help you keep track of your details for your “mini adventure.”
Then get packing. Over the years I’ve learned how to pack light by parking right. That is taking a few key essentials that go well wherever you might end up. I prefer to stick with black capri-length or long pants, a pair of shorts, one or two solid tees or tanks, a black knit dress and comfortable sandals. These tanks from Objet Adapté to show your Ohio pride.
Next select the jewelry that go well with everything. Who wants the hassle of tracking your jewelry when traveling? I’ve lost enough things to know its best to just keep it simple.
These Bourbon & Boweties necklaces are versatile. The fun, gold Bob Voyage necklace is perfect for your travels. The beaded Bon Voyage Collins bracelet from Bourbon & Boweties can also be worn as a bracelet.
.
Finally grab your bags. I like to tuck a smaller bag, for my essentials (cash, cards, lipstick, phone and keys) into a larger tote that I can add water, a scarf (just in case), a hat and an energy bar. These totes by Objet Adapté come in handy for small purchases I can’t live without. When I go out to dinner in the evening, I just grab my small bag.
Bon Voyage! Thanks for shopping State & Third and supporting independent artist!
