Design & Inspiration

Lights, Camera, Stage Columbus

Last summer, in the midst of all the COVID chaos and uncertainty, I got my real estate license. Even before COVID, I was searching for the next logical step, one that made sense and could incorporate much of what I was already doing. State & Third has been open for 7 years. In that time, I have been able to cultivate relationships with amazing artists. My degree from CCAD is in Interior Design, and I have years of corporate design experience. The thought of being able to help people not only buy or sell their home, but get it looking its absolute best, made perfect sense.

However, I’ve found the reality of real estate is most people are not fans of real estate agents. I feel like the moment I mention real estate, people shut down or act like I’m going to harass them about buying or selling. This could not be farther from how I operate, but I get the stigma – my first brokerage constantly reminded us to be aggressive. The hardest part of starting something new is learning something new and trying to also incorporate all of your plans. It was beyond daunting to figure out how to learn how to write contracts, get clients and bring my creative element to the table. And then I found a boutique brokerage here in town that already does everything I want to do, Nth Degree Realty.

Nth Degree is literally a one stop shop for Interior Design, Staging, Renovation (including construction), and Real Estate. Also locally owned and operated right out of Gahanna, Neal and Jeff have created a beautiful showroom that just inspires. Since making the move, I have finally been able to do what I set out to do and promote our artists in ways the shop is just not capable of right now. Nth Degree offers complimentary staging for anyone that lists their home with us and design advice on your next real estate purchase. I always joke that I did not get into real estate for the contract writing (truth), but to help a process that seems overwhelming and make it as seamless as possible.

This post is important to me because I’ve finally been able to bridge the gap between intention and reality. We’re also planning some collaborations with Nth Degree and State & Third in other ways, stay tuned for details. In the meantime, I’ll keep posting inspiring photos of what we’re doing. Never hesitate to reach out with questions – I’m always happy and here to help.
